GameMaker Room Making Interface

In this video I will show how I make a room in GameMaker, it's pretty simple it's just point and click!

Here's the room when I'm done:

The music in the video is acoustic versions of these songs done by Summertime's End:
In Stereo
The Art Of Succinct Compliments

If you wanna try my game out, you can get the demo here.
It's been much improved since the demo, though.

Enjoy!

Edit: OLD DEMO - Tilly's Rose Garden [DEMO!]

This is a demo of a game I'm working on (Not promising a finish!), for now the object is to get all of the flowers then go to the circle to get to the next level! But don't touch the scarecrows or you'll have to pick them up all over again!

Creator's Notes:
The things are sensitive to touch in this game, if you touch the circle or scarecrows at all the level will be stopped and he next action will happen (restart or next level).

The player gets stuck on the mazes when it's a tight fit, I'm not sure why but I think it's how the program's room-grid works.

The "X" button to close the program for some reason doesn't work, use Escape (Esc) to close.

The Game Goes in to full screen mode and it's size adjustable  if you wish to make it bigger.

You can go to the next level whenever you want, you'll just not get all the points if you don't pick them up.

How To play:
You use the arrow keys for movement, the name of the key it the direction you go (up = up etc.)

Download Here

Programs Used:
GIMP - Art
Sony Acid (Free Version) - Sounds
Gamemaker 8.0 lite (Free Version of Gamemaker) - Putting it together and making it playable.

Enjoy!

Comments on what you think, how it could be improved, or other like bugs or the like are all welcomed!

[Tip of the Week; Week 6: Logging using HTML files (For Character Design).

Those of you who want to write a story, or want to develop characters for other purposes (game design, comics, animation) you probably want a way to organize you character profiles, and notes and the like. I know I do! And what do I do? I use HTML to make offline webpages/websites to organize my Characters. I'll admit, I haven't been diligent with writing it down in my webpages but I will show you what I mean using screenshots.

Make a simple button system and organise the webpages and connect them.

This is Angel's page (I need to update these pages these are all outdated) , notice that it says some things about her, along with some pictures, when I update it I'll add ideas and other things about her.
Think of it as a virtual index. These pages might seem hard to make, but it's quite simple you can download a basic HTML "template" in the downloads section that shows some of the basics and you can go to W3 schools for HTML lessons for free. - These pages use CSS too but for a basic log that's really not needed.

This isn't a needed thing to do, but it can be helpful if you keep up with it.

Have fun!

P.S: Sorry for missing a week, it totally slipped past me! D:

[Concept Art] Furry Friends

I'm thinking about bringing the furry friends characters back again! So these are my concept sheets.

These were simply colored as to get many drawings done fast, I drew each picture one at a time, so was: Sketch>Ink>Color - Next drawing - Repeat.

Used a Normal Pencil and a Mechanical pencil for sketching, 03, 05 pens from Prismacolor for inking, and Crayola markers to color, 1 copic for the very light purple.

Enjoy!

[Traditional Art] Volar Al Cielos

Bigger Version
I painted this, this after noon!  -I used almost ENTIRELY children's art supplies! Only thing I'd say wasn't "child's" art stuff was the Prismacolor pen to outline and white paint I used, but it's normal craft paint and semi better quality white watercolor paint. I only used 2 colored pencils, this is mostly child's watercolor paint and crayola markers. - I drew it too close to the perforated edges of the watercolor paper pad........So it's a little cut off on the edge.

The Title means "Fly to the heavens" in Spanish.

The wings represent freedom, the roses represent love, the ladybugs represent hope (a personal thought of ladybugs), purple is royalty (heaven's "ruler"); The patch's pattern it supposed to be musical notes but it's kinda hard to tell, and the tassel like trim also makes me think of royalty

 Enjoy!

[Tip of the Week; Week 5: Go Monotone!

When playing around or if you're lacking in inspiration, try drawing/coloring something in monotone.
What I mean is, use all one set of colors like only blues, or only reds, only one family of colors. You learn a lot about the color by making a whole drawing around it, you get added emotion and feeling that sometimes can't see in the vastness of many colors.

Have fun!

{Digital Art} It's a Good Morning! - Mandisa Portriat!

Reference Image - Copyrights goes to Mandisa
This is Mandisa, she pwns.
She made Simon Apologize.
We Love Mandisa.

Okay lets get to the art......

This is Mandisa, she's a Christian singer but she got her start on American Idol.
I aimed for the same goal as with my TobyMac Portriat, not "realistic" but you can tell it's the person!
This took me a while, and I lost motivation and inspiration but still managed to finish it. I went through editing the sketch a bunch of times but the final sketch is below.

Enjoy!

Programs Used:
  • MyPaint
  • GIMP
  • HyperCam
  • Windows Movie Maker
