Some Drawings I've Done Over The Past Few Months

Okay I know the middle or early week would have been better but I'm a lazy jerk and never got the nerve to actually write a decent article so we get these pieces of artwork instead. I'm sorryyyy!!!

Okay here we go, some of these are going to be mentioned in future posts. I'll say a little about some of the artworks. And yeah...it'll explain itself.

Monochrome inked with brown pen and colored with watercolor.

Sunflower with bees, colored with sharpies and colored pencils, on mixed media paper the background is watercolor and the outlines are with inking pens and a sharpie fine tipped marker.

These first two are done on printer cardstock using Prismacolor multi-liners and Sharpies to color. (The light blue from the dress is a Prismacolor marker [I only have 3 of those]).

This next one is I believe the first drawing I've ever colored not in monotone while having the outlines in brown. Colored using watercolor, crayola markers and soft pastels on mixed media paper.

I was watching Jake Parker videos while drawing these from photo reference. I didn't aim for realism just a likeness of the different leaves. The top row left to right: Oak, Ash - Botton Row Left to Right: Maple, Birch.
Colored pencil, pen, soft pastel on sketch paper.

A pen drawing using color inking pens and IDentipens all from Sakura brand.

Opaque watercolor painting on mixed media paper.

Colored pencil drawing on watercolor paper with a watercolor background.

I have drawn more but I think that's enough for now.

I hope you enjoyed these drawings, if you did please +1 on google plus and show other people.
Thank you!

Drawing Practices Over The Weekend

I recently got a sketch-book so I don't have to use up my mixed media paper which costs a lot of money I don't have...to draw stuff that isn't all that good....anyways...yeah...Lol.

I followed Mark Crilley tutorials, 2 lessons in "Figure it out" by Christopher Hart, and some lessons on DragoArt.com (go there with caution, some tutorials are kinda...just kinda.)

Anyways, here ya go!

Enjoy!

I hope this was helpful!

Tip of the Week: Add Fluidity

Adding Fluidity
Stiff -vs- "Fluid (Curved)

A drawing needs fluidity, balance, and some freedom. Even in hyper realism there is much fluidity.
If you are drawing a face or a body, you have contours of the muscles and fat of a body...

...Or if you draw an animal, the fur doesn't simply stick out, it flows and follows the shape of the animal.
Animal Fur (cat ear)

Plants don't grow stiffly up in most cases, they have weight, bends and flows, they move and twist in the wind and though it might sound weird they actually do breath...I suppose what I'm trying to say it that living things aren't stiff, they move, they bend, and the show presence, if you want a good drawing you need to present that in some way.
See how the vine flows?

Same thing with textures like fabric, even sitting there it has depth when something moves past it it flows, when the wind touches it there is a light-weight feeling to it. Take this drawing for example:

One thing to avoid, though, when trying to make things interesting is to not make things seem “plastic”, if you have something at on angle, having a smaller similar object going at the same direction can make it unbalanced like you are trying too hard.

I hope this was helpful!

Special Shout-Out To: We Draw Animals

Upon being given special permission I'm going to both give a shout-out and put in my "Programs and People I Recommend" side bar this website!

http://www.wedrawanimals.com/

"We Draw Animals" has at this moment around 200 hundred tutorials on drawing different animals, it goes from the level to a young child around the age of 4 up to the average person who wants to learn how to draw animal figures. It ranges quite far touching on fish, insects, mammals, and more! - The website also provides some "Fun Facts" about the animal you're about to draw to add some extra fun and flare!

I hope you enjoy and learn from the site as much I do!

Link can be quickly found in the side bar of the blog.
